INGREDIENTS

  • 1 whole chicken

  • Pit Barrel® All Purpose Rub

  • hawaiian rolls

  • sliced dill pickles

  • white bbq sauce (featured is howtobbqrights mississipi white sauce)

  • pickled red onions (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Trim Whole chicken of excess fat and remove giblets.

  2. Pat chicken dry with paper towel. Rub chicken with olive oil or spray with cooking spray as a binder.

  3. Season chicken with Pit Barrel® All-Purpose Rub. Allow seasoning to adhere for 20 minutes.

  4. Light your Pit Barrel® according to lighting instructions

  5. Right before adding the bird, dd a chunk of Pecan Wood to the coals for added smoke flavor.

  6. Using the Poultry Hook , put the chicken on and hang in the Pit Barrel® Cooker. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165°

  7. Remove chicken from Pit Barrel® and let rest for at least 30 minutes.

  8. Once chicken has rested, shred. Be careful, the chicken might still be hot inside.

  9. Assemble sliders by opening Hawaiian rolls, add chicken, pickle, drizzle with your white bbq sauce and enjoy!
